Olivier Martinez was born on 12 January 1966 in Paris, France to Rosemarie and Robert Martinez. He has a brother named Vincent who is also an actor. Martinez attended Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique (CNSAD).
He dated Kylie Minogue and Mira Sorvino before marrying actress Halle Berry in 2013. The couple’s son, Maceo, was born later that year. In 2015, the duo announced that they were parting ways. Their divorce became final the following year.
After appearing in minor roles in a number of films, Olivier Martinez got his big break when he was cast as Petit Paul in the French drama film ‘Un, deux, trois, soleil’ for which he went on to win a César Award for "Most Promising Actor". Then he appeared as an Italian nobleman in the period flick ‘Le Hussard sur le Toit’ (The Horseman on the Roof) in 1995. The following year, he was cast in Bertrand Blier's romantic comedy ‘Mon Homme’ (My Man) alongside Gérard Lanvin, Anouk Grinberg and Valeria Bruni Tedesch. Martinez next played Horty in the French-Italian drama film ‘La Femme de chambre du Titanic’ (The Chambermaid on the Titanic).
