Miranda entered her first country music talent show at the age of 10 and started professional singing while still in high school. She made her singing debut with the ‘Texas Pride Band’ and also sang for a house band in Reo Palm Isle, Longview, Texas. She was influenced by legends like Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson who also started their career in a house band.

She launched her professional career with her performance at the Jonnie High Country Music Revue in Arlington, Texas, after which she was given a recording session at Nashville Tennessee. However, she did not much care for the type of pop music offered to her and said that she was not ready to go into recording at that stage.

Her love for country music, which she grew up with in Texas, prompted her to ask her father to teach her how to play the guitar and soon she began writing her own songs. By 2002, she started performing country music at local restaurants and became part of the Texas country music scene with the full financial support of her parents.

In 2003, she took part in the talent competition, ‘Nashville Star’, where she finished second runner-up. During her audition, she caught the attention of Tracy Gershon who later got her signed for a contract with Sony Records.

Her debut single, ‘Me and Charlie Talking’, which was a tale on puppy love, was co-written with her father and released through Epic Records in 2003. It became the lead song for her debut album titled ‘Kerosene’ which was released the next year. The album was listed at number one on the Billboard ‘Top Country Albums’ chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award. It also got a platinum certificate by RIAA for selling over one million copies.

She toured with Keith Urban, George Strait, Dierks Bentley and Toby Keith after the release of her first album and worked on her second album titled ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’, which was released in May 2007. Her third album, ‘Revolution’ was released in 2009 for which she wrote 11 out of the 15 tracks with fellow country star, Blake Shelton. The album’s second single ‘White Liar’ was her first number to reach the top 5 on the ‘US Billboard Hot Country Songs’ chart. She performed her new single ‘Dead Flowers’ at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in April 2009.
