He started his career in hip hop music while he was still in high school. He was invited to rap on a music show by DJ Clue, who is an American record producer. Later he also performed on the New York City radio station ‘Hot 97’. He was eventually signed by DJ Clue to his record label ‘Desert Storm Records,’ following which he was featured on several of their mixtapes.

On September 11, 2001, Fabolous released his debut album ‘Ghetto Fabolous’. The album found commercial success and sold 140,000 copies in the first week. It also debuted at the fourth position on the US Billboard 200. It included two hit singles ‘Can’t Deny It’, which charted on the US Hot 100 at the 25th position, and ‘Young’n’ which charted at the 33rd position.

He released his second studio album ‘Street Dreams’ in 2003; it was an average success commercially. It reached the third position on the US Billboard 200, with sales of 185,000 copies in the first week. Its most successful singles were ‘Can’t Let You Go’ and ‘Into You,’ both peaking on the US Hot 100 at the 4th position, and also entering the charts in various other countries. The same year, he also released his first official mixtape named ‘More Street Dreams, Pt. 2: The Mixtape’.

His third album ‘Real Talk’ was released in 2004. Like his previous albums, it was a commercial success, charting at the 6th position on the US Billboard 200. It had sold more than 550,000 copies by the end of the year. The album featured the hit singles ‘Breathe’, which charted at the 10th position on the US Billboard Hot 100, and ‘Baby’ which charted at the 71st position on the same chart.
