Miss D is married to Robert Williams and is a proud mother of a son, Cobe. The family is based out of Jackson, Mississippi.
She has been openly candid to her students and the producers of the show about her past in the adult film entertainment industry. Her candidness set a new example in the dance industry and she has been applauded by media and fans alike.
Miss D started dancing at the age of 4. Her parents subsequently had her enrolled into the Angie Luke School of Dance where she spent years trying to perfect a wide range of dance forms including Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Ballet Point, Tap (Beginner and Advanced) and Belly Dance. As years went by, Miss D went on to participate in various dance competitions and got associated with reputable dance groups around Jackson. She was a member of ‘Eye of the Tiger Drill Team’ and Captain of the California State Dominguez Hills University Cheerleading Squad during 1989-1998.
After finishing high school, Miss D enrolled into Jackson State University to earn a degree in Criminal Justice. After graduating she went on to work for the city as a Recreation Aide and the Dance Instructor for its various programs in the north side.
During college, Miss D did a brief stint in adult film industry, but with much effort she left the past behind to start afresh.
In 2001, she established the Dancing Dolls Dance Studio within a small premise at the Pied Piper Playhouse in Jackson. From there began her long and arduous journey to fame and excellence.
After Dancing Dolls, Miss D launched the Grove Park Dancerettes in 2002, acted as the choreographer for the Callaway High School Chargettes in 2006, founded the Prancing Diamonds in 2007, and was elected the Vice President and Choreographer of the Jackson Association for Majorettes in 2009.
The dance program in Grove Park and the Dancing Dolls, both were Miss D’s legacy to the city of Jackson. The program grew to produce exemplary dancers, right through the ages 5-18 years. Not only that, the program had a huge positive impact on the community itself involving children from different background and uniting them through dance.
Miss D also allows the creative juices to flow freely among her students. She is responsible for developing brand new dancing styles and even revamping existing genres by infusing her own styles.
Her students have not only achieved success in the dance arena but have also proved themselves able leaders and administrators. She is known to be very strict with her student, often yelling at them to push them further, but she is also fiercely protective as well, shielding them from all the negativity that the competitive environment might trigger.
