Chris Jansing was born as Christine Ann Kapostasy on January 30, 1957, in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, USA, to Tilly and Joseph Kapostasy as the youngest of their 12 children. She attended Otterbein College and graduated from there in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Chris Jansing began her journalistic career as an intern at a local cable station in Ohio. She then was hired by the radio station WIPS of New York. After working there for some time, she went on to serve as a general assignment reporter for the WNYT television based in New York. Jansing stayed at WNYT for a long period of 17 years and rose to become a weekend anchor followed by a weekly co-anchor. While at the network, she also covered the Olympic Park bombing that took place in Atlanta during the Olympic Games.

In 1998, she was hired by NBC News. Since then, the American journalist has served as a substitute anchor for MSNBC’s ‘The Today Show’. She has also anchored the Sunday broadcast of ‘NBC Nightly News’. In the year 2008, Jansing moved to Los Angeles and worked there as a field reporter for almost two years before returning as an anchor in 2010.

Then in 2014, she became the network’s senior White House correspondent. Before acquiring this position, she also co-anchored the weekday morning news show ‘Jansing and Company’. On June 1, 2017, the American journalist was named the senior national correspondent for MSNBC.
