In 1990, Sheen proposed to actress Kelly Preston but their engagement could not materialize into marriage as he accidently shot her and she called the wedding off. After that he checked into a rehab.
In 1995, he got married to model Donna Peele after meeting her on the sets of a commercial. They got divorced within a year’s time. He was revealed to be one of the clients of Heidi Fleiss’s escort agency.
From 1997–1998, Sheen was involved in a legal accusation made by his model girlfriend Brittany Ashland that he smashed her face on the kitchen floor. He was hospitalized for a drug overdose.
Charlie Sheen was born in New York to Martin Sheen and Janet Sheen. His father is a well known actor in the Hollywood film fraternity and his mother was an artist. He has 3 siblings.
All of Sheen children are actors. They all moved to Malibu, California because of their father’s Broadway show. His first appearance in a movie was made at the age of 9 in the movie ‘The Execution of Private Slovik’.
He attended the Santa Monica High School, Santa Monica, California. He started acting at a very young age and made ‘Super 8’ movies with his brother Emilio Estevez, friends and actors Rob Lowe and Sean Penn.
In 1984, Sheen acted in ‘Red Dawn’ with other actors like Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, Thomas Howell, etc. It was a Cold War teen drama. He worked with Jennifer Grey in another movie, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’.
In 1986, he did his first main parts in the movies ‘Platoon’ which was a Vietnam War drama and also worked with his father in ‘Wall Street. Both movies were directed by the same director, Oliver Stone.
In 1988, ‘Born on the Fourth of July’ was offered to Sheen by Stone but later Tom Cruise was chosen for the role and Sheen was never informed about it, which is why he never took part in his next venture.
In the late 1980s, Sheen did roles in movies like ‘Grizzly II: The Predator’ which was a sequel to the horror film called ‘Grizzly’, ‘Eight Men Out’, ‘Young Guns’ for which he got a Bronze Wrangler and ‘Men at Work’.
In 1990, Sheen did the movie ‘Cadence’ which was his father, Martin Sheen’s directorial venture. He played the role of a rebellious army bulwark. He also did Clint Eastwood’s ‘The Rookie’ in the same year.
He had a clothing line called ‘Sheen Kidz’.
Sheen has dated adult film actresses like Ginger Lynn and Heather Hunter.
Recently he revealed that he is HIV positive.
