When she was two, her mother enrolled her into an expensive dance training program to correct a foot problem. She participated in her first dance competition at the age of six and won the Danish Junior Championships when she was 12.

She studied at Lille Nicholaisen academy for performance and dance, but quit dancing at the age of 19 to avoid stress. She then enrolled in a four-year business course and subsequently worked as an apprentice in an estate agency for two years.

Camilla Dallerup, who left dancing momentarily to work as an estate agent, decided to give dancing one last chance after hearing a samba on the radio. In the late 1990s, she met Brendan Cole while searching for a dance partner and the two moved to London, United Kingdom.

She and Cole started practicing together and participating in dance competitions as partners. In 2003, they finished third at the UK Closed Championships in Latin American and also ranked in the top 12 world professionals at the open British championships.

In 2004, they were offered to participate in the new BBC show 'Strictly Come Dancing', paired with separate partners. Dallerup and her partner David Dickinson were voted out in the 3rd week of the show; while Cole went on to win the title along with his partner Natasha Kaplinsky.
