Most of what Big Narstie does in private time is kept under the covers. His dating history is largely unknown and he mentions that even though he is a public figure, he prefers not sharing every little and big moments of his personal life to millions. His social media accounts are also quite ‘covered’.
Born at Lambeth, London, UK, on 16th November 1985, Big Narstie was brought up in his birth place and attended Stock Well Park High school. He was a music enthusiast since the very beginning and had a great sense of humour, making him a popular kid in the school and family.
As a kid, he wanted to be in the army and says that he thought that men in uniform are ‘cool’. But due to him being overweight and his inability to shed those extra pounds kept him from actually trying to join the armed forces, for which he became depressed for a brief period of time. The defining moment for him came when he witnessed the positive vibe around him when he heard a song ‘Pay As you Go’ playing in a nightclub and just like that, his fate was sealed.
Dice Records, a small time independent record label saw Big Narstie’s work while working for N-double-A and signed him on in 2006. Sampling Coldplay there, Narstie began gaining immense publicity thanks to his unique talent as a grime artist. Multiple mainstream radio channels played his music and contributed to his popularity further. His track ‘Brushman’ came out to be a massive hit and RWD magazine recognized it as the ‘song of the year’.
Big Narstie then went on to feature on several records, which includes ‘Before I die Remix’ by Professor Green and ‘N Dubz vs NAA’ by N-Dubz, which proved to be the most successful single from their debut album titled ‘Uncle B’. Narstie continued further and ended up with releasing three mix tapes ‘Mind of a Fat Guy’, ‘Drugs and Chicken’ and ‘I’m Betta than You’, the songs from these mixtapes featured artists like Giggs, Wretch 32 and Scorcher.
In 2012, Narstie released two mix CDs back to back titled ‘Pain Overload’ and ‘Pain is Love’, the latter one was made available for free download through SB.TV. The same year, Narstie came up with his debut extended play titled ‘#Pain’ and won the Urban Music Award for the Best Grime Artist beating the likes of Skepta and Dot Rotten, which was an achievement considering it was his debut effort. The EP also debuted on the number 5 in the iTunes UK Hip Hop chart and put Narstie among the league of masters in the grime MC arena.
In 2013, Narstie announced his second EP titled ‘Dont fuck up the base’ and the launch party for the same was attended by some prolific artists like Flirta D, Mic Righteous, Scrufizzer, Kozzie and DJ's
DJ Cameo, Charlie Sloth, DJ Logan Sama. EP ‘Big Narstie’ turned out to be the best selling Grime album in 2013 and Narstie went about getting more offers to work with bigger music artists.
As of May 2017, Big Narstie’s net worth is estimated to be around 2.1 million UK pounds.
