José Ariel Camacho Barraza was born on July 8, 1992 in Guamuchil, Sinaloa, Mexico to Benito Camacho and Reynalda Barraza. The details regarding his education and love life are not available on the web.
Ariel Camacho began singing at the age of 12. When he was in school, he met César Iván Sánchez, who would perform backup vocals and play the guitar in the band that the duo would eventually form. They later met a tuba player named Omar Burgos and added him to their group. Camacho then gave his first ever concert in Tijuana. Soon, he became popular for his expressive way of playing his requinto.
In 2013, the singer decided to form the band ‘Ariel Camacho y Los Plebes del Rancho’ along with Cesar Sánchez, Omar Burgos, and El Tigre. The next year, the band released their debut album ‘El Karma’ which was followed by the album ‘Hablemos’. Besides playing with the band, Camacho also often collaborated with other singers, including Marca Registrada, Grupo Fernandez, Regulo Caro and Los Traviesos De La Sierra.
The young singer’s promising life was tragically cut short when he died in an accident in 2015. Shortly after Camacho’s death, his band changed their name to "Los Plebes Del Rancho de Ariel Camacho” in order to honor the late singer-songwriter.
The remaining band mates continue to make albums like “Recuerden Mi Estilo” as a tribute to him. Also, every year on 25th February—the anniversary of his death—his band mates, fans, family members, and other artistes visit his grave to commemorate him. Today, Ariel Camacho is fondly remembered by many people as "El Mentado", El Rey del Requinto", "La Tuyia” and "Rey de Corazones".
On February 25, 2015, Ariel Camacho, along three other people, was involved in a car accident on a road from Angostura, Sinaloa. The singer was on the way back from the music festival Carnaval de Mocorito. He and two others died in the accident while one of the passengers was injured. The accident occurred at 2 am on the highway Angostura- La Reforma. Camacho, who was driving, apparently lost control of the vehicle. It is unclear whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol although it was reported that he was driving at a very high speed. He was just 22 at the time of his tragic death.
Many artistes have paid tribute to the late singer-songwriter through songs like "Un Mentado Ariel” and "Hasta el Cielo". In 2017, an album dedicated to his memory was released. Titled "Ariel Camacho Para Siempre," it featured the artistes Gerardo Ortiz, Revolver Cannabis and Regulo Caro.
