Amy Dumas’ personal life has gained quite a lot of attention. She first was in a relationship with Hardy. Their chemistry first sizzled in the ring in a match thus starting their on-screen relationship into real-life romance.
In 2004, Amy Dumas revealed about her pregnancy. However, what shocked everyone including Hardy the most was the fact that the child wasn’t Hardy’s but Kane’s. Hardy and Kane met for a match in which whoever won would eventually marry Amy. Kane successfully defeated Hardy and went on to marry Amy. However, unhappy with her marriage, Amy’s disapproval was openly visible as she aided Kane’s opponents during his matches.
A miscarriage followed by a divorce finally ended her relationship with Kane. She then was romantically involved with Edge. However, this too ended following her retirement.
Amy Dumas was born on April 14, 1975, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US.
She changed a lot of schools during her early life. After completing high school from Lassiter High School, she attended Georgia State University, majoring in education. However, she dropped out of it in 1993.
Amy Dumas’ interest in wrestling began after she watched Rey Mysterio Jr wrestle on an episode of World Championship Wrestling. She was so enticed by the sport that she travelled to Mexico to learn more about it.
While in Mexico, she trained under numerous wrestlers. She then made several appearances with the Empresa Mexicana de la Lucha Libre. Upon returning to US, she started working as a valet on independent circuit.
In Maryland Championship Wrestling, Amy Dumas first took the ring name Angelica. She then made an appearance at the NWA Mid-Atlantic where Matt and Jeff Hardy offered to train her.
In 1999, she made her debut at the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). There, Amy Dumas first met Dory Funk Jr, who offered to train her at his wrestling school, The Funkin' Conservatory. In August 1999, she was one of the 24 graduates from the school. She returned to ECW making her final appearance on October 1999.
On November 1, 1999, Amy Dumas was signed to WWF developmental deal. She was given the ring name Lita and was paired with Luchador Essa Rios. Together with Rios, Lita made her debut on February 13, 2000 for an episode of Sunday Night Heal. Later, Rios and Lita separated following a feud after which Lita was joined by Matt and Jeff Hardy. The trio formed Team Xtreme.
In 2014, she was inducted in WWE Hall of Fame
