Elon Musk's Martian Ambition

German engineer and novelist Wernher von Braun’s science fiction book ‘Project Mars’ from 1952 has resurfaced on Twitter, with a storyline describing a character named ‘Elon’ who would govern human colonies on Mars. The story parallels with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s goal of creating colonies on Mars, which he has been vocal about. Musk founded SpaceX in 2002 to make spaceflight more cost-effective and frequent, and the company is currently working on Starship, a rocket that will transport crew and cargo to Mars. The Artemis Program, led by NASA, is also working on missions to Mars, using the Moon as a test bed. While von Braun was a pioneer rocket scientist, he initially worked for the Nazis but fled Germany post the second World War and joined NASA after moving to the US. With his vision and efforts, Musk aims to make space travel and colonization a reality, creating affordable and sustainable transportation to Mars to make human colonization of the red planet possible.

Elon Musk’s Vision of Colonizing Mars

German engineer and novelist Wernher von Braun’s science fiction book ‘Project Mars’ was published in 1952, where he described a character named ‘Elon’ who would govern human colonies on Mars. This visionary storyline is making rounds again on Twitter, and even SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has taken notice of it. The book details the future government on Mars, which will be run by ten men who work under Elon.

Musk has been vocal about his ambition to colonize Mars and create a multi-planetary human species. He founded SpaceX in 2002, with the aim of making spaceflight more cost-effective and frequent. Currently, his firm is working on Starship, a 120-meter (394 feet) tall rocket that will transport crew and cargo to Mars.

Musk has shared edited images of colonies on Mars on various occasions, and he believes that humans will reach Mars in their lifetime. While NASA’s Artemis Program is also working on preparing itself for missions to Mars, using the Moon as a test bed to prepare for the journey beyond.

Wernher von Braun, remembered as a pioneer rocket scientist, initially worked for the Nazis but fled Germany post the second World War and joined NASA after moving to the US. The story of Elon ruling Mars is over 70 years old, yet its relevance to the modern world is evident as Musk continues to work toward his goal of creating colonies on Mars.

The book’s small excerpt shared on Twitter by a handle named DogeDesigner says this confirms the theory of us living in a simulation, a theory that Musk agrees with. Musk tweeted “Seriously” in response to the excerpt.

With his vision and efforts, Musk aims to make space travel and colonization a reality. As the CEO of SpaceX, his goal is to create affordable and sustainable transportation to Mars, making human colonization of the red planet a possibility.
