Neglected Areas Now Role Model for the Country, Says Jitendra Singh

Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Personnel, recently stated that areas that were once neglected, like border districts, have now become role models for the country. Singh claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “public darbars” have been successful in bringing governance to the doorsteps of people, even to the last person in the queue.

Singh went on to say that governance should not be limited to district headquarters and that addressing people’s concerns on the spot with district administration was necessary. He asserted that development has reached the last man in the queue under PM Narendra Modi, giving the example of the border district of Kathua, which is now considered the epitome of development and governance in the country.

Singh, who is the Lok Sabha member from Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur constituency, praised the present government’s initiatives in bringing hundreds of acres of border land under cultivation, which brought back the lost smiles on the faces of border dwellers in Kathua after 20 years.

The minister directed the top officials of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) present during the public darbar to speed up the work on the express highway and also look into the genuine issues raised by the public in a time-bound manner. According to Singh, Kathua is now considered a role model for development in the country due to various development initiatives undertaken there.
