The Chicago area will be treated to another sunny and pleasant day to wrap up the weekend, but another storm system could potentially be in sight for a midweek arrival.
Forecast models predict clouds will clear the area early in the morning, making for a mostly sunny day with well above average temperatures reaching the upper 40s and lower 50s across the region.
The strong winds that hit the area on Saturday will continue to blow at around 20 miles per hour in the morning, but these are expected to recede as the day progresses, making for a pleasant afternoon.
Winds will shift overnight, blowing from the north, which will help bring temperatures down a bit ahead of Monday, with high temperatures in the low 40s. This is still slightly above their seasonal average, and this trend will continue on Tuesday as well.
On Wednesday, things get a little more interesting as a storm system will bring snow to Wisconsin in the morning. The question is how this precipitation will fall in Illinois and northwestern Indiana, as the line between rain and snow could potentially drift south, causing snow accumulation in the region of Chicago.
As it stands, it looks like it will be a mostly rainy event here, but that is subject to change as weather patterns begin to connect to the system ahead.
This will continue until Thursday and Friday, with temperatures falling back into the 30s, with a slight rebound expected on Saturday and Sunday.
