While some were understandably delighted that the young talent was able to learn and improve his defensive play under the watchful eye of one of the game’s best.

“Donnie Baseball wants to take Baby Vlad to the next level #SpringTraining #BlueJays #springclips”

“I love Donnie. He was in the National League forever. It feels weird coming to Yankee Stadium in the AL East.”

“It hurts my heart”

“That makes me sick.”

“I hope Vladdy realizes how lucky he is”

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is cautiously optimistic about the coming season

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. #27 of the Toronto Blue Jays celebrates after being named Ted Williams’ Most Valuable Player during the 91st MLB All-Star Game at Coors Field on July 13, 2021 in Denver, Colorado. The American League defeated the National League 5-2.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. declined to divulge anything when asked what to expect from him and the Toronto Blue Jays in 2023.

After an overwhelming 2022, Guerrero Jr. is careful not to let expectations get bogged down ahead of the start of the new MLB season.

“Last year I put myself under pressure,” Guerrero told reporters on Friday. “As a ball player, you want to get better every year. You all know the numbers I put up 21. I came here last spring practice to try and get even better numbers and I think that influenced me a bit. This year I come here with a plan and trust in my talent.”

“This year I won’t say anything. You have to see it.”

While Guerrero Jr.’s offensive performance faltered last season compared to 2021, there was a visible improvement in his defensive play. Blue Jays fans are hoping for a strong performance from their talisman in 2023.
