Republicans in South Carolina are working with Democrats on legislation that would allow thousands of cross-border commuters released to the United States by President Joe Biden’s administration to obtain professional licenses to work in white-collar jobs.
Republican State Representatives Neal Collins, Bill Herbkersman, Micah Caskey IV, Jason Elliott, Cal Forrest Jr., Jerry Carter and R. Raye Felder are sponsoring the legislation, which would open up professional licenses to cross-border commuters who have obtained work permits by the Biden administration after arriving at the US-Mexico border.
A number of Democrats are also sponsoring the legislation.
“A person who has a current and valid employment authorization approved by federal immigration authorities is eligible for professional or professional license under the provisions of this title provided that all other applicable requirements are met,” reads the legislation.
The legislation’s impact is greater than ever because it would coincide with the Biden administration’s years-long implementation of an extensive catch-and-release network that includes a parole pipeline.
That pipeline has helped at least 1.7 million cross-border commuters get to American communities — hundreds of thousands of them getting work permits in the process — while they wait for asylum and immigration hearings.
FWD.us, billionaire Mark Zuckerberg’s mass migration lobby group, is a leading proponent of such legislation in all states as they seek to increase the US workforce, in benefit of their backers, with as much immigration as possible.
Republicans in other red states, under pressure from commercial donors and local chambers of commerce, enacted similar legislation.
Most notably, Republicans in Arkansas passed legislation in 2021 that grants professional licenses to illegal aliens enrolled in former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Governor Asa Hutchinson (R) then signed the bill into law.
In Georgia, Republicans and Gov. Brian Kemp (right) approved three pieces of legislation that seek to weaken state licensing requirements, opening them up to commuters and illegal aliens under the guise of helping military spouses.
Colorado has significantly expanded access to professional licenses, removing a prior requirement that job seekers must be legally in the United States. Instead, illegal aliens can now obtain such licenses.
How many of the commuters, freed inside the United States by the Biden administration and given work permits, who ended up in South Carolina and benefiting from the legislation is still unclear.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refuses to make this data public.
