Igbo warned against Lagos politics 1

Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson for President-elect Bola Tinubu, warned the Igbo in Lagos against interfering in politics in the state. Onanuga issued the warning on his official Twitter account, cautioning the Igbo community to stay out of Lagos politics. Ethnic tensions in the days leading up to the Lagos gubernatorial election, with former governor Olusegun Osoba imploring citizens of Igbo descent in Lagos not to make the election a tribal issue, further exacerbated the situation. Onanuga had also previously regretted introducing Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to then-Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, in 1999. The Peoples Democratic Party had also targeted Tinubu due to his popularity, according to Onanuga. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, were also embroiled in ethnic sentiments.
