On March 2, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Jammu and Kashmir police provided information to the police about Patel’s arrival in Kashmir as a government official, leading to his arrest. Security officials recovered forged identity cards from Patel’s possession.

He questioned the government’s governance in Kashmir and asked who they report to. Khera further criticized the Prime Minister for losing track of what was happening in the nation and asked the government on what grounds Patel was provided with Z+ security. Khera ended by asking if just having one’s name on a card was enough to get Z+ security.
