UPS Boosts Driver Safety Training

UPS has invested heavily in safety training courses, spending $343 million to provide better training for its drivers. The company has introduced 20 driving and delivery simulators across the US, which offer a realistic driving experience before operating an actual delivery vehicle. Nikola Corporation announced that it received 100 orders for its Class 8 Nikola Tre hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle, which has a range of up to 500 miles and a fueling time of about 20 minutes. Customers can access an incentive from the Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project in California, which ranges from $240,000 to $288,000 per truck. The project has played a role in many of the orders. The report by QuoteWizard revealed that roads and bridges in poor condition cost US drivers an average of $556 annually. Of the nearly 20% of American roads and 5% of bridges in unacceptable conditions, Rhode Island tops the list with 48% of its roads in poor condition, followed by West Virginia with 31%.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has signed HB 1003, establishing a legal framework for the testing and deployment of autonomous vehicles on public roads in the state. The Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) Executive Director Jeff Farrah praised the move, stating that it opens up Mississippi to the safety, mobility, and economic benefits of autonomous vehicles. Mississippi joins 22 other states in adopting the technology.
