Purdue University Northwest (PNW) has selected three alumni to honor in its second annual PNW Alumni Hall of Fame class. The 2023 honorees include Robert Johnson III, Stewart “Stu” McMillan, and Alfredo “Al” Sori, who are high-achieving leaders in their fields, involved members of their communities, and who have engaged with PNW well beyond their time as students. PNW established the Alumni Hall of Fame in 2022, and David A. Roberts, a 1974 graduate, was the first inductee. PNW invites nominations for future Hall of Fame classes each fall. PNW will recognize McMillan and Sori for their exceptional work in their industries, commitment to their communities, and their continued support of the university. The university will honor the inductees on June 8, 2023, during a reception and dinner at Alumni Hall in the Student Union and Library Building on PNW’s Hammond campus.

Purdue University Northwest (PNW) will recognize three successful alumni for their achievements in their respective fields, community involvement, and continued support of the university. Robert Johnson III, Stewart “Stu” McMillan, and Alfredo “Al” Sori have been selected for the second annual PNW Alumni Hall of Fame class.
The Alumni Hall of Fame award is given to high-achieving alumni who have made significant contributions to their communities and industries while remaining connected to PNW. The university will honor this year’s inductees on June 8, 2023, during a reception and dinner at Alumni Hall on the Hammond campus. Tickets and sponsorship information are available at pnw.edu/hall-of-fame, and a portion of the proceeds will fund PNW student scholarships.
Chancellor Thomas L. Keon noted that the 2023 honorees embody the qualities of PNW alumni and have been innovators and leaders in their respective fields. The honorees continue to support and inspire current PNW students.
Robert Johnson III is the President and CEO of Cimcor, Inc., a company in Merrillville, Indiana, that develops advanced IT security software. Johnson has also founded Velocityware, a mobile software and technology firm, and led the development of several patented and patent-pending technologies. He holds associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees from PNW and serves as a member of the Board of Advisors for PNW’s department of Computer Information Technology and Graphics in the College of Technology.

PNW Honors Two Alumni for Their Contributions in Their Respective Fields
Purdue University Northwest (PNW) will recognize Stewart “Stu” McMillan and Alfredo “Al” Sori for their exceptional work in their industries, commitment to their communities, and their continued support of the university.
Stewart McMillan is the founder of the Multi Agency Academic Cooperative (MAAC) Foundation in Valparaiso, Indiana. He previously served as a member of the Union Township and Washington Township fire departments in Porter County, Indiana, and led Task Force Tips, Inc., a firefighting equipment supplier. McMillan earned his bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering from PNW in 1977. He has generously supported PNW with gifts that have been used to improve facilities and student workspaces, such as the PNW Design Studio on the Hammond campus.
Alfredo Sori retired from Kiewit Corporation, one of North America’s largest construction and engineering organizations, after a distinguished career. He most recently served as division manager of Kiewit subsidiary Mass Electric Transportation, overseeing projects across North America. In 2020, he donated to PNW to support a general biology lab space inside the Nils K. Nelson Bioscience Innovation Building, naming the space the Sivilla-Sori Biology Lab in memory of his mother, Georgina Sivilla. Sori received an associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management in 1989 from PNW.
