Maggie Throup, MP for Erewash, paid a visit to Kirk Hallam Community Academy on March 24th, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to meet with the school’s headteacher, Mr Turner, and tour the academy’s facilities. Mrs Throup, a former Minister for Vaccines and Public Health during the pandemic, showed particular interest in the academy’s recently refurbished science labs and on-site natural science facilities.
During the visit, Mrs Throup had the opportunity to speak with some of the school’s student library volunteers and staff members. She and Mr Turner also discussed the academy’s outward-facing approach to its position in the local community. Additionally, they talked about the upcoming celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Kirk Hallam Community Academy and the school’s impressive progress over the last 50 years.
Mr Turner was pleased to welcome Mrs Throup to the academy and showcase the recent school improvement work.
