Hatley Celebrates Victory at Cyclones Wiener Dog Races to Rave Reviews from Sold-Out Crowd

WAUSAU — Junior hockey team Wausau Cyclones hosted their 2nd Annual Wiener Dog Race presented by SC Swiderski at Marathon Park Saturday night during the first and second breaks of their game against the Peoria Mustangs.
A total of 25 dachshunds from across north-central Wisconsin competed in the races. Hatley earned the title of 2nd Annual Cyclones Wiener Dog Races Champion after edging out the equally adorable Boomer and Oscar.
The event raised a total of $881 for the New Life Pet Adoption Center through Chuck-a-Puck, 50/50 Sweepstakes and proceeds from Cyclones Wiener Dog Race specialty items. New Life Pet Adoption Center, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The center was established in 2000 as a no-kill center to bring more adoptable service animals into loving and caring homes. Educating the public and local governments about the overpopulation problem, emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering and providing a safe place and humane treatment for pets while they await adoption.
Peoria won both games over the weekend, defeating the Cyclones 6-2 on February 3 and 2-1 in overtime on February 4. Wausau is now 13-22-4-0 and ranks fifth in the North American 3-Hockey League Central Division rankings.
