Enugu Governorship: LP Candidate Leads in 4 out of 8 Local Govts 1

The Enugu State governorship election saw the LP candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, take a slim lead after winning in four out of the eight local government areas collated so far. Edeoga is leading with a higher number of votes, having polled a total of 66,907 votes, while his PDP rival, Peter Mbah, scored 66,471, leaving a margin of less than 500 votes. The APC candidate, Uche Nnaji, has not won in any of the eight council areas, trailing with a total of 7,307 votes. There are 17 local government areas in Enugu State, and nine of them are still waiting for the results to be announced. The collation of results for the election would resume as soon as the results from the nine remaining local government areas arrive at the centre.

LP Governorship Candidate in Slim Lead in Enugu State Election After Winning in 4 Out of 8 Local Government Areas

The Enugu State governorship election has seen the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, take a slim lead after winning in four out of the eight local government areas collated so far. His Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, Peter Mbah, has also won in four of the eight local government areas. However, Edeoga is leading with a higher number of votes, having polled a total of 66,907 votes, while Mbah scored 66,471, leaving a margin of less than 500 votes.

The eight local government areas where the results have been collated are Uzo-Uwani, Udi, Igbo-Eze North, Oji River, Ezeagu, Aninrii, Igbo-Etiti, and IIsi-Uzo. The LP candidate has won in Igbo-Eze North, Oji River, Igbo-Etiti, and Isi-Uzo local government areas, where he hails from. Meanwhile, the PDP candidate, Mbah, has won in Uzo-Uwani, Udi, Ezeagu, and Aninri. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Uche Nnaji, has not won in any of the eight council areas, trailing with a total of 7,307 votes.

There are 17 local government areas in Enugu State, and nine of them are still waiting for the results to be announced. These remaining nine local government areas could still tilt the balance in the election. Collation officers from the eight local government areas submitted the results to the Returning Officer for the election, Maduebibisi Iwe, at the State Collation Centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Enugu on Sunday.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Chukwuemeka Chukwu, said the collation of results for the election would resume as soon as the results from the nine remaining local government areas arrive at the centre.
