Draymond Green wasn’t going to put up with Charles Barkley’s take on the Warriors in the NBA All-Star Game, calling him out for writing off Golden State.
Both Draymond Green and Charles Barkley were on the NBA All-Star Game show. That doesn’t mean they got along well.
Things took a turn when Barkley gave his thoughts on the Warriors’ prospects for the rest of the season. He thinks they are “cooked”.
Draymond didn’t take that one lying down.
“That’s crazy. You said that last year, but we all know you don’t know what you’re talking about,” Green shot back.
Clearly, Green and the Warriors won the championship last year with a team that isn’t all that different from what they have this year.
The Warriors must prove skeptics like Charles Barkley wrong in the playoffs
The Warriors did not start in the NBA title defense. They are 29-29 and are ninth in the Western Conference at All-Star Break. To put that into perspective, they suffered 29 losses last season and entered the playoffs as the No. 3 seed.
Despite the regular season standings, Golden State is not a team that should be written off. Not while Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are down.
Curry’s current injury is a definite setback, but as long as they enter the playoffs, anything can happen. A healthy Golden State will always be a dangerous playoff team.
They may not be as strong as they have been in previous seasons, but calling the Warriors “cooked” at this point feels like a reach.
