DR sales committees always close on the dark side of telemarketing 1

DR Sales is on board Always Be Closing, a drama series about the dynamics, dominance and discrimination in the telemarketing industry.

The youth-oriented series will premiere on February 24 on DRTV, the Danish broadcaster’s streaming service. Always Be Closing was created by Frederik Dirks Gottlieb, Kasper Lundberg, and Andrea Moyo, who were themselves in the telemarketing industry when they were young. The cast is led by Danish star Anders Heinrichsen (“Follow the Money”, “Borgen – Power & Glory”) and rising talents Andreas Bruun Pedersen and Tarek Zayat. The series is directed by Svend Colding and produced by Laura Valentiner-Bohse for DR.

Always Be Closing tells the story of Kenneth and Jamal, two friends in their early 20s who need to make some money – preferably fast. So they get jobs as telemarketers at New Energy, a company that sells “green” electricity. New Energy is a fast-paced workplace with big bucks, parties, stiff competition, and an intense fraternity with the other telemarketers.

There is a dark side to the company, however, and slowly the rot is starting to ooze out. Their CEO Bjarne, though charismatic, immediately squeezes between Kenneth and Jamal. Kenneth has always lacked a male role model and is fascinated by all of Bjarne’s great ideas. At the same time, Jamal realizes that the company profile is not as green and competitive as he was told.

“’Always Be Closing’ is a dramatic coming-of-age drama set in a difficult job market. It’s about dominance, discrimination and father issues in an overheated sales industry where being yourself doesn’t pay,” said DR Sales.
