VoiceWorx Devon: Singing Through Theft

VoiceWorx Devon singers persevered through a chilly rehearsal after thieves stole heating oil and damaged the oil tank at Kentisbeare Village Hall. Despite the setback, the choir members continued to prepare for their upcoming concert on March 25, which will raise funds for the DEC Earthquake relief. Barbara Wood, chair of VoiceWorx, encouraged the singers to think of those in Turkey and Syria who are suffering from freezing living conditions and homelessness. The police are asking the public for any information or reports of suspicious behavior, and locals have even installed secret surveillance to prevent future thefts. The VoiceWorx Spring Concert, which will include performances by the Uffculme School Jazz Band and Tale Valley Choir, is scheduled for March 25 at Kentisbeare Village Hall. Tickets can be obtained on the VoiceWorx website.

Devon choir perseveres through cold rehearsal after oil theft

VoiceWorx Devon singers faced a tough rehearsal in the cold after thieves stole heating oil and damaged the oil tank at Kentisbeare Village Hall on the weekend of March 4 and 5. Despite the setback, the choir members continued to prepare for their upcoming concert on March 25, which will raise funds for the DEC Earthquake relief.

Barbara Wood, chair of VoiceWorx, acknowledged the difficulties but remained optimistic, stating, “We can do this.” She encouraged the singers to think of those in Turkey and Syria who are suffering from freezing living conditions and homelessness. Last year, VoiceWorx raised significant funds for the Medical Boxes for Ukraine, an effort necessitated by the Russian war and subsequent price increases for oil. It is ironic that the same choir is now facing a similar challenge due to a thoughtless and cruel oil theft.

Despite the adversity, the people of Kentisbeare are determined to find the culprits.

The concert will support the DEC Earthquake Relief funds. While the choir members may have had to endure a chilly rehearsal, they remain committed to their cause and optimistic for a successful performance.
