Founded in 1939 by Mr Carlo Salvi, the company initially manufactured mechanical descalers to process hot rolled rod. By 1952, the company had built its first single die two-blow toggle header.

As a result, a complete range of these machines was produced in just a few years and exported throughout Europe, with Germany being the primary market besides Italy.

Consequently, it designed a completely new line of single-die, high-speed models, followed by a range of single-die two-blow machines for semi-tubular rivets. In the early 1980s, a line of single-die two-blow headers for fully tubular rivets was also added.
Carlo Salvi’s continued success led to the development of multi-die machines, and by the beginning of the 1990s, a complete range of two-die four-blow and progressive headers was completed. By the end of the 1990s, the company had established Carlo Salvi USA Inc in Toledo, Ohio. The modern facility was equipped with advanced tooling machines and aimed to better serve North America, Canada, and Mexico.
