Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider saved a woman’s life by performing the Heimlich maneuver at a restaurant in Dunedin, Florida.
According to Sportsnet’s Hazel Mae, Schneider noticed that a woman was choking on a nearby table and unable to breathe. The second-year manager performed the Heimlich maneuver and saved her life.

John Schneider said he learned the Heimlich maneuver back in 6th grade, which came in handy yesterday when he saved a woman from choking on prawns at a Dunedin restaurant.
His reward: a free beer.

Just another example of not all heroes wearing cloaks. This is also a reminder to everyone that there is no harm in learning the Heimlich Maneuver because you never know when it may come in handy and save someone’s life.
Schneider, 43, joined the Blue Jays’ staff in the 2019 season under new coach Charlie Montoyo. But in the midst of a sluggish month of July, the Blue Jays surprisingly let go of Montoyo and appointed Schneider as interim manager.
The Blue Jays’ game improved tremendously under Schneider. They went 46-28 after the change, qualifying for the second postseason in three years. Upset by the Seattle Mariners in the AL Wild Card Series, the Blue Jays lost in two games.
