Bethel First Selectman, Dan Carter, has provided an update on Bethel, CT, mentioning a forum called “Finding Middle Ground” on March 27th to discuss the balance between local zoning autonomy, TOD initiatives, and state regulations. On March 29th, Bethel Voter Registrars will be at the Bethel High School to register high school seniors to vote. Additionally, Carter is hosting office hours to answer questions from residents, and will be a guest on a radio podcast discussing the budgeting process in Bethel. Congratulations to Jess McGlinchey, Kerry Collins, Kit Nielsen, and Toshan Battacharya, who won awards for their achievements in education and science in Bethel. Finally, Carter attended the NJROTC Military Ball, thanking the leaders and cadets for their hard work in making Bethel an excellent community.
Bethel, CT Update From First Selectman Carter
The Bethel Board of Finance held a public hearing on the town budget on Monday evening, followed by a meeting on Tuesday to take a last look at the budget before the Annual Town Budget Meeting on April 3rd. Due to the exceptional people running and working in the schools and the comptroller’s knack for predicting utility rates, the town will have additional savings in the 2023-2024 budget. The next stop for the budget is the Annual Town Budget Meeting on April 3rd at 7 pm at the Bethel High School Auditorium.
The Town and the Bethel Administrative Clerical Union signed a new agreement this week. The Bethel community is fortunate to have such great people working for its residents.
The supporters of the Bethel Bark Park are hosting a fundraiser in the General Purpose Room at Town Hall from 10 am to 3 pm tomorrow. The event will have dog-inspired items for purchase, information for dog lovers, and food. Bethel First Selectman Dan Carter may even be there with his rescue from DAWS, Dixie!
Bethel is a haven for art, and Bethel Arts is hosting an opening reception for “Arts in View” art exhibition tomorrow, March 25th, from 2 to 4 pm featuring two local artists, Carol Gibson and Diana Gubbay. The event is free.
The library will be hosting a Mini Golf Library Fundraiser next Friday and Saturday, March 31st and April 1st. Friday evening’s refreshments will include beer and wine, so the event is limited to those over 21. On the other hand, Saturday is a family day, and tickets are still available through links on the events page on the Bethel Library website. Additionally, take some time to explore the programs and activities the library has to offer. You may be surprised by how much our library does for our community!

Bethel Update: Finding Middle Ground
On Monday, March 27th, the Bethel Connecticut Independent Town Committee and the Bethel Action Committee are hosting a forum titled “Finding Middle Ground” in the General Purpose room at Town Hall at 7 pm. This open discussion forum aims to strike a balance between local zoning autonomy, TOD initiatives, and state regulations, all of which are essential topics of concern for many Bethel residents.
The Bethel Voter Registrars will be present at the Bethel High School next Wednesday, March 29th, to register Bethel High School Seniors to vote. Remember to bring your ID if you’ll be 18 by November 7th, and contact the Voter Registrar office if you have any questions.
Bethel First Selectman, Dan Carter, will hold office hours next Wednesday, March 29th, from 7 am to 8 am in Town Hall Meeting Room A, offering residents the opportunity to ask questions.

Congratulations to Jess McGlinchey, Kerry Collins, and Kit Nielsen for winning the Bethel Education Foundation’s Janice Jordan Excellence in Education Award. Bethel residents are fortunate to have them in the community.
Furthermore, Toshan Battacharya from the Bethel Middle School won at the Connecticut Science Fair. His entry was impressive, and he presented it at the Board of Education’s meeting. Kudos to Battacharya for his fantastic achievement.
