WrestleMania 39 promises to be the most spectacular event in WWE history as the promotion takes over Hollywood later this spring.

The road to the Showcase of the Immortals began in earnest with the thrilling Royal Rumble in late January.

The two WWE PPVs will always be intrinsically linked, with the winner of the respective Rumbles earning a title shot at ‘Mania’.

This year’s edition of sports-entertainment’s biggest show will finally leave its mark on Hollywood like so many WWE stars have already done.

WrestleMania 37 was originally scheduled to be held at the California landmark, but the Covid pandemic forced it to be moved.

Two years later, the Show of Shows promises to be bigger than ever as it becomes the first WrestleMania under Triple H’s control following Vince McMahon’s retirement in July.

This year’s flagship event will once again take place over two nights on Saturday April 1 And Sunday April 2.

It takes place at the 70,240-seat SoFi Stadium – home of NFL teams the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers – in Inglewood, California.

The respective cards will both start from 1am in the UK and run until the wee hours of each morning.

BT Sport Box Office is set to show the two-night event on UK TV again for £19.95.

It can also be streamed live on the WWE Network – £9.99 per month for subscribers.

WrestleMania 39: Will The Rock be present?

WWE reportedly hoped its biggest star of all time would return to the company for a match at the Hollywood event.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was the superstar behind WWE’s most successful era – the Attitude Era – in the 1990s.

But after heading to Hollywood in 2004, The Rock only returned for a significant storyline with John Cena from 2011 to 2013.

Over the past decade, his wrestling outings have been infrequent and he hasn’t been on WWE television at all since October 2019.

The 50-year-old himself has publicly spoken about his desire to return at WrestleMania 39 to face WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

The pair don’t share the same blood, but they belong to the same famous Anoa’i wrestling family and refer to each other as cousins.

They shared screen time during Hobbs & Shaw in 2019, in which Reigns claimed that “it made sense” for the pair to face off at WrestleMania.

Even in 2017, the Rock said that this pool asked who he would like to face for a final match: “One would be Triple H, The Game. The other would be The Beast Brock Lesnar.

“The other would be a guy who just needs my foot up his ass, Roman Reigns. Yeah.”

However, it was recently reported that the Brahma Bull is unlikely to compete after citing a lack of time to get into ring shape.

WrestleMania 39: What was said?

Another of WWE’s Hollywood stars, Cena, has been invited back for the event, and he previously shared his hopes that the Rock would follow suit.

He told E! in 2021: “Dwayne Johnson is a star in his own universe. There is no one like him. There will never be anyone like him.

“Having him be kind enough to return to WWE is his own worldwide entertainment phenomenon, it’s great for WWE and it’s great for The Rock.”

Cena added, “As a WWE fan, I really hope he comes back. I think it would be special for everyone.

As for Cena, he’s been linked with a matchup against social media sensation Logan Paul.
