A Mariposa crowd favorite, Union Duke is bringing his explosive live show to St. Paul’s Center in downtown Orillia on March 25th.

The show Mariposa in Concert (MIC) also features James Gray and Josh Kvasnak.

“It will indeed be a reunion for the Mariposa Showcase winners at the March 25 show,” said MIC Chair Pam Carter. “Union Duke was selected for the 2014 Showcase. In 2019, solo artist James Gray won a spot, as did Josh Kvasnak (as part of The Doozies).

Tickets are $35 (all fees and taxes included) and are available online or at the Mariposa Folk Foundation office, 10 Peter St. S., Orillia, 705-326-3655. The show takes place on Saturday March 25th at St. Paul’s Centre, 62 Peter St. N. in downtown Orillia. Admission is at 6:45 p.m., the concert starts at 7:30 p.m

Union Duke is a raucous collision of alt rock and twang that gets the crowd going with songs from the heart. Floating harmonies, driving rhythm and infectious enthusiasm have shaped Union Duke’s career and won the hearts of their devoted fans. With three full-length albums, eight singles, countless festival stages and hundreds of thousands of miles in their rearview mirrors, the band is excited to be back. Union Duke is five guys, 24 beers and a half-ton truckload of foot-stomping folk rock.

James Gray is a contemporary take on an old-school traveling folk singer. Over the years, James has criss-crossed Canada, Europe and Australia, seeing the world and entertaining along the way. James has now completed 10 tours on three different continents and is just getting started. James has released three albums, the last in 2022, New friends who speak like old friends. Notably, James has been a musical guest on TED Talks held on the west coast of Canada and recently James has been featured regularly on CBC radio programs including Fresh air with Nana Aba Duncan and Ontario morning with Wei Chen.

Josh Kvasnak is fresh off his second solo release, Work. Josh, who describes himself as a folk music magnet, captivates the audience with his quirky stories and cheeky jokes. Also known as the lead singer of Oshawa-based maritime trio The Doozies, Kvasnak delivers candid, unforgettable solo performances.
