Celebrating Student Excellence with SSS-D and Texas Roadhouse

TRIO Student Support Services, Disabilities (SSS-D) has partnered with Texas Roadhouse to launch the “SSS-D Student of the Month” campaign, which aims to showcase the excellence of students with disabilities. SSS-D students are frequently first-generation and from a limited-income background. To be considered for Student of the Month, nominations can be made online by other students, faculty, and staff, and a selection committee will choose the recipients. The chosen students will be recognized through social media and receive a complimentary meal from Texas Roadhouse. SSS-D aims to assist WKU students with documented disabilities in obtaining their bachelor’s degree, with the ultimate goal of gaining personal and professional competencies that will allow them to advance in their chosen careers or graduate education. The partnership between SSS-D and Texas Roadhouse has given SSS-D another opportunity to make students feel valued and empowered.

TRIO Student Support Services, Disabilities (SSS-D) has partnered with Texas Roadhouse to highlight students’ excellence in the “SSS-D Student of the Month” campaign. This collaboration enables SSS-D to showcase the brilliance it witnesses in students every day.

Jimmie Martin, the Director of TRIO SSS-D, said that partnering with a well-known brand like Texas Roadhouse will provide students with a unique opportunity to shine. He added that students would be showcased not only in the SSS-D office and on its social media platforms, but also in the restaurant and on its social media pages. Besides, the selected student will receive a complimentary meal along with the recognition.

SSS-D students can be nominated for Student of the Month online by other students, faculty, and staff. The selection committee will consider these nominations, and the chosen students will be acknowledged through social media and a free meal from Texas Roadhouse.

TRIO SSS-D students come from a limited-income background, and all of them have a documented disability. They are frequently first-generation students.

Senior student Olivia Feck, who majors in Psychological Sciences, says that this partnership is an excellent way to advocate for and raise awareness about disabilities within the community. She stated that it is difficult to find support for the difficulties that come with these disabilities, but SSS-D cares about students and uplifts them.

SSS-D’s primary goal is to make every student feel valued and empowered. This partnership with Texas Roadhouse provides SSS-D with another opportunity to bring that feeling to its students.
