“Brock Boeser’s Agent Discusses Potential Trade to Wild or Devils After Canucks Negotiations”
A few months ago, reports surfaced that Brock Boeser’s agent, Ben Hankinson, had received permission from the Canucks to help his client with a trade. The Canucks have never publicly confirmed these rumors, but have never denied their validity either.
And on Tuesday, The Province’s Ben Kuzma reported that Boeser’s agent confirmed that he spoke to the New Jersey Devils and Minnesota Wild, who Kuzma added “that makes the most sense.”
“Boeser’s name has been associated with many trade destinations, but Devils and Wild make the most sense. His agent, Ben Hankinson, told Postmedia Monday he continues to help the Canucks hockey department find a target and has spoken to New Jersey and Minnesota.

Boeser signed a three-year contract with an annual average value of $6.65 million this past offseason. Many believe the Canucks would either have to keep Boeser’s salary or enter into a contract in a trade, and it’s hard to believe that a settlement involving Boeser would not include either of those two things.
The Canucks have an abundance of wingers on their roster and even the majority of their top-end prospects are wingers. It’s not hard to believe they’d want to offload at least one, maybe more. And at this point in his Canucks career, Boeser certainly makes sense as a candidate in need of a fresh start.
Through no fault of his own, Boeser just can’t stay healthy since suffering a season-ending back injury in his rookie season. In the years since, Boeser has endured several stints on injured reserve due to wrist and hand injuries and has sadly not been able to produce consistently since.
His total points per game is certainly still respectable, and at the age of 25 it shouldn’t be to difficult for the Canucks to negotiate a deal with a potential suitor.
The Canucks drafted Boeser 23rd overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Boeser has 130 goals and 156 assists in 366 games with the Canucks.
