The week of February 19 to 24 is Read Freedom Week in Canada.

The week is an annual event promoting intellectual freedom, guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Although Canada guarantees freedom of expression and allows the freedom to read, there are and have been certain limits to this freedom.

In addition, efforts have been made in Canada and elsewhere to ban, censor or restrict certain works.
