Mauricio Lara has admitted spitting on Josh Warrington as the pair clashed at ringside in Nottingham on Saturday night.
Lara knocked out Wood in the seventh round with a devastating left hook to claim his WBA featherweight title.
The Mexican, who has a win and a draw against Warrington, immediately turned his attention to his former opponent at ringside.
The pair have fought twice in 2021, with Lara winning the first fight at Wembley Arena before the second was declared a draw due to an accidental cut from the Mexican following a clash of heads.
There’s a lot of unfinished business there and a melee occurred when Lara spat in Warrington’s direction.
Warrington said: “As soon as the fight was called off, he looks at me. He sees me. In fact, I thought he sometimes looked between fights. I took off my stole… head forward, he spat on me. You know, I can have a little pantomime – screaming and screaming – but someone spat on me? I do not have it.
“He seems to have had this thing for the past few years that since the second fight I’ve disrespected his family, disrespected his dad and this, that and the other.
“I didn’t even know his dad was on his practice squad. But now he has to want to end my career – I’m more than happy to give him that opportunity.

Lara also confirmed he did spit in Warrington’s direction.
“Of course I did,” he said IFL-TV. “It’s very, very personal between us. I want to take him out of boxing.
