Manchester United’s win over Leicester took them a very impressive step, demonstrating their continued improvement under Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils continued their blistering form this season with a comfortable 3-0 win over the Foxes on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford was on the double while Jadon Sancho came off the bench to secure the result to make it the club’s 27th victory this season in all competitions.
And that’s a record in Europe’s top five leagues – the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A.
While the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli all lead their respective leagues, it’s United who have actually won the most games.
Remarkably, they are also seven wins clear of their tally last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, who oversaw just 20 wins between them in a dismal campaign.
It just underlines the brilliant job Ten Hag has done so far at Old Trafford, with some fans even dreaming of a possible Premier League title charge.
Victory over Leicester put them five points behind leaders Arsenal and three behind second-placed Manchester City, as they have lost only once this calendar year – which was away to the Gunners in January.

United are the only team in Europe to remain in four competitions as they seek to lift the Carabao Cup next Sunday while still playing in the Europa League, FA Cup and Premier League.
But despite the victory over the Foxes, Ten Hag was unhappy with his team – especially in the first half.
He told Sky Sports: “We’re happy with the result, it’s a great result.
“When you play every three days, you can’t always get the same performance. Today was really tough.
“Leicester’s first half was brilliant, we were rubbish, the way we were really unruly.
“We had problems and it was only because of David de Gea that we had a clean sheet at half-time.
“Fortunately we got half time, we were able to fix some things and the second half was brilliant.
“It was a lot of fun, it was nice to see how we created so many chances and scored great goals.”
Next up for Man United is a massive Europa League clash at home to Barcelona on Thursday night, with the draw well balanced at 2-2.
As away goals no longer count in European fixtures, both sides will be aiming for victory if they are to avoid extra time and a penalty shootout. But the stat suggests that Man United know how to do this better than anyone in the big five leagues.
