The basketball superstar broke the record with a vaulter that surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s mark of 38,387 points in the third quarter of Tuesday night’s Los Angeles Lakers game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
James has also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat on his NBA journey, leading him to break the record for most career points in NBA history.
Present at the game were Abdul-Jabbar, James’ former Heat teammate Dwyane Wade, rap mogul Jay Z and his wife Savannah.
For breaking the record, athletes, celebrities and sports teams from across the sports world congratulated James, who is from Akron, Ohio, and has won four NBA championships and tied with Abdul-Jabbar for most NBA All-Star appearances this season.
