Unlock Your Potential: KAMS Summer STEM Summit

Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science (KAMS) at Fort Hays State University is offering a STEM Summit from June 4th to June 6th. The Summit is open to incoming eighth, ninth, and tenth-grade students who are interested in science, technology, engineering, and math. The Summit offers an opportunity for students to work in teams, make new friends and engage in hands-on experiments that make STEM subjects come alive. Participants can choose from a broad range of activities that cater to their interests. The registration fee is $25 for Kansas residents and $100 for non-Kansas residents. KAMS Summer STEM Summit at FHSU Registration Now Open

Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science (KAMS) at Fort Hays State University is offering an exciting STEM Summit from June 4th to June 6th. The Summit is open to incoming eighth, ninth, and tenth-grade students who are interested in science, technology, engineering, and math.

The Summit offers an opportunity for students to work in teams, make new friends and engage in hands-on experiments that make STEM subjects come alive. Students can choose from a broad range of activities that cater to their interests.

The activities include some of the best science demonstrations used in teaching. Students can try to survive lying on a bed of nails, play the role of a local game warden solving a case of poached whooping crane, learn how insects can fight crime, and practice molecular biology techniques to solve a mystery.

Students can also approximate pi and prove the Pythagorean Theorem using algebraic methods. They can work with a team to break-out in a race against the clock, explore the chemistry of cooking and art, and learn how research is leading to the science classroom of the future with 360 videos.

Participants can use computer-aided design technologies like Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Revit to produce a unique 3D object. They can also experience the impact of 3D scanners and virtual reality on the engineering design world.

The Summit fee is $25 for Kansas residents and $100 for non-Kansas residents. The fee is non-refundable, and the registration deadline is April 15th. The camp fees include a two-night stay in a residence hall room, meals, campus supplies, and a camp t-shirt. Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, and space is limited.
