IIT Delhi Among Top 50 Globally

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, has been ranked among the top 50 institutions globally for Engineering & Technology in the QS World University Ranking. IIT Delhi secured the 48th position globally with a score of 80.1 in Engineering & Technology, and its Electrical Engineering programme achieved a rank of 49th. Additionally, five of IIT Delhi’s academic programmes featured among the top 100 subjects globally in the Engineering & Technology area, including Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 ranked a total of 54 specific subjects in 1594 institutions from across the globe under five broad subject areas. Some subjects of the IIT Delhi were also ranked among the top two domestically. Overall, it was a phenomenal achievement for IIT Delhi and its academic programmes.

The 13th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, which was released today, saw IIT Delhi ranked 48th globally with a score of 80.1 in Engineering & Technology. The institute’s Electrical Engineering programme achieved a 49th rank, while five of its academic programmes featured among the top 100 subjects globally in the Engineering & Technology area, including Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 ranked a total of 54 specific subjects in 1594 institutions from across the globe under five broad subject areas. Some subjects of the IIT Delhi were also ranked among the top two domestically. Electrical & Electronics, Civil & Structural, Statistics & Operations Research bagged first ranks, while Computer Science & Information Systems, Chemical, Material Science, and Biological Sciences secured the second rank.

Last year, IIT Delhi secured 72nd Rank in the QS World University Rankings, making the latest achievement even more impressive. Commenting on the achievement, Prof. P.V. Rao, Dean, Planning & Head, Rankings, IIT Delhi, said, “IIT Delhi is among the top fifty institutions globally in the area of Engineering & Technology and also five programmes offered by the institute have achieved top hundred ranks globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, which is a phenomenal achievement”.
