Chicago early voting sites could open late Monday, board of elections says – NBC Chicago 1

Early voting sites in Chicago’s 50 wards may have delayed openings on Monday due to scheduling of voting machines undertaken the day before, the city’s Board of Election Commissioners said.

In a press release, the CBOE said it had to program all touchscreen voting machines to comply with an Illinois Court of Appeals order requiring the board to restore the name of Shawn A. Walker – a candidate for alderman of the 28th arrondissement – on the ballot.

The work was to take place after the polls closed on Sunday, from 4 p.m. until Monday morning, to “cause the least disruption to Chicago voters.” Although the council noted the possibility of delays, it said all early voting sites will “open as soon as possible” on Monday.

The Chicago Board of Elections supersite, 191 N. Clark, and the board offices at 69 W. Washington will be open regular hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

You can check the “open” or “closed” status of your neighborhood’s early voting site here.
