Fans who weren’t able to buy Bruce Springsteen’s tickets when they went on sale Friday for his Aug. 9 show at Chicago’s Wrigley Field are in luck, as tickets for a second show will go on sale soon.
Tickets for the first show sold out quickly and just before that on-sale time, the Cubs announced that a second show had been added, this time on August 11 at the Friendly Confines.
According to the team, tickets for the Aug. 11 show will go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, and instead of being sold through Ticketmaster, tickets for the Chicago shows will be sold directly through the Cubs’ website, according to organizers.
For some, this is a welcome change.
“For many cities, the tour will use Verified Fan through Ticketmaster,” reads an announcement from the tour operator, which requires pre-registration, time limits, codes and more. For the next leg of Beyoncé’s tour in Chicago, this led to long lines and demand quickly outstripping supply after various presales went into effect.
For Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour, this has led Ticketmaster to cancel ticket sales to the general public.
And while nearly every city on The Boss’ latest tour will use Ticketmaster’s “Verified Fan” ticketing system, two stops on the tour will not, according to officials: the shows at Springsteen’s Wrigley Field in Chicago and the August 16 show at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
The last time Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band toured the United States was in September 2016, as part of The River Tour. At that time, the United Center in Chicago was the second stop on his roster.
