University of Granada: Top 100 Majors Worldwide

The University of Granada has been ranked among the top 530 universities in the world in 31 majors and the top 300 in five major areas of QS by subject classification for the year 2023. UGR has two majors, namely nursing and sports sciences, ranking among the top 100 majors in the world. Along with them, UGR also has three majors placed among the 150 most distinguished worldwide, including agriculture, archeology, and modern languages, between positions 101 and 150. UGR has excelled in all areas of knowledge and has improved its ranking in various fields significantly. QS ranking provides an independent analysis of over 15,700 undergraduate programs in 54 academic disciplines and five subject areas. Harvard tops the list with 14 top-performing programs, while British universities lead in 15 subject tables, with Oxford and Cambridge universities leading in four and two programs, respectively. China (Mainland) has the second-highest number of programs, with 125 programs in the top 50, while the University of Toronto has 48 programs among the top 50 universities globally. The University of Chile has achieved the highest position in Latin America in Engineering – Mining and Metallurgy. QS ranking is one of the most consulted rankings with over 120 million views in 2022.

The University of Granada (UGR) has once again proven its excellence in higher education, as it has placed 31 majors among the top 530 universities in the world and five major areas in the top 300 in the latest edition of QS by subject classification for the year 2023. Among the top 100 majors in the world, UGR has two majors, namely nursing and sports sciences, ranking from positions 51 to 100. Along with them, UGR also has three majors placed among the 150 most distinguished worldwide, including agriculture, archeology, and modern languages, between positions 101 and 150. These rankings signify an improvement from last year’s results where UGR had only four outstanding majors.

UGR has excelled in all areas of knowledge, and it has improved its ranking in various fields significantly. In Arts and Humanities, UGR has moved from position 248 to 156, while in the natural sciences, it has risen from 262nd to 227th. Similarly, in engineering, UGR has climbed up to 293rd from 328th, and in life sciences, it has risen from 297 to 291. In the social sciences, UGR has entered the top 300, rising from last year’s ranking of 355 to 289.

The university has proven its mettle in various majors, placing in the top 50 universities in the world in two disciplines: Mathematical Sciences and Nursing, where it shares the position with the University of Barcelona and the University of Navarra. Moreover, UGR is among the top 150 in three majors, top 200 in eight majors, and top 300 in ten majors. Some of the majors where UGR has excelled include earth sciences, education, geology, geophysics, mathematics, pharmacology, psychology, and statistics.

In addition to the majors, UGR has also ranked among the top 530 universities in the world in other subjects, including biology, economics, electrical engineering, medicine, physics, materials science, and sociology. UGR’s position in the 2023 QS ranking is 494th, which is an improvement from the 2022 edition’s ranking of 492nd.
