“Amanda Seyfried Takes on the Role of Theater Director in Atom Egoyan’s ‘Seven Veils'”
Amanda Seyfried is working with her again chole Director Atom Egoyan on Seven Veilsan opera themed drama filming in Toronto next week.
the some And The Dropout star will play Jeanine, a serious theater director tasked with restaging her former mentor’s most famous work, an adaptation of the opera Salomé by composer Richard Strauss, based on the play by Oscar Wilde. Stepping back into the opera world after so many years, Jeanine is haunted by dark and disturbing memories from her past, allowing her repressed trauma to color the present.
rhombus media (Owner, Enemy) will manufacture Seven Veils along with Ego Film Arts in association with Cinetic Media, IPR.VC, XYZ Films and the Canadian Opera Company. XYZ Films is selling the worldwide rights to the film and will be presenting the project to buyers at Berlin’s European Film Market on February 16th. Elevation Pictures is released Seven Veils in Canada.
The film is an extension of Egoyan’s critically acclaimed revival of Salomé for the Canadian Opera Company, which debuted February 3.
“I first produced Salome for the Canadian Opera Company almost 30 years ago and have been haunted by his themes,” says Egoyan. “This is a project I’ve dreamed of for years and it’s so exciting to be reunited with Amanda after the amazing experience we shared together chloe.”
Egoyan (The sweet afterlife, Remember) will direct the film from his own script and also produce alongside Niv Fichman, Simone Urdl, Fraser Ash and Kevin Krikst.
XYZ’s Aram Tertzakian, Nate Bolotin, Maxime Cottray and Nick Spicer will serve as executive producers, along with Cinetic Media’s John Sloss and Elevation Pictures’ Noah Segal and Adrian Love.
Seyfried starred alongside Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore in Egoyan’s 2009 thriller chloewhich premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was released in the United States by Sony Pictures Classics.
Another XYZ Films, IPR.VC and Rhombus Media production directed by Matt Johnson blackberry, a comedic biography about the rise and fall of the legendary Canadian smartphone company, will premiere in competition in Berlin later this month. IFC Films has caught up blackberry for US release, with Elevation being distributed north of the border.
Seyfried is repeated by Innovative Artists. Egoyan is represented by WME, Cinetic Media and Great North Artists Management.
