She blasted the Recording Academy – the organization behind the Grammys – in an angry post on Instagram, writing, “Really @recordingacademy how dare you exclude Aaron Carter from the memorial service for musicians lost in 2022.”

Martin included a picture of Carter, who was found dead in the bathtub at his California home in November aged 34 and attending the Grammy Awards as a child. She added, “He’s a multi-platinum artist who has had success since before he was a teenager. He is the most influential pop culture kid in the 90s-00s era and has been attending this show since a very young age.

Although Carter was not credited during Sunday’s live show at Crypto.com Arena, he was credited in the In Memoriam segment on the physical copy of the official Grammys program.
Other stars mentioned on the show included Vangelis, Depeche Mode’s Andy Fletcher and Lisa Marie Presley. The tribute featured Kacey Musgraves honoring Loretta Lynn with a performance of her song The miner’s daughter while Sheryl Crow has teamed up with Mick Fleetwood and Bonnie Raitt for a rendition of songbird in honor of Fleetwood Mac star Christine McVie.
