Studio 8H, Halloween 2026

On 31 October 2026 Inde Navarrette hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time, on the show's Halloween episode, with Gracie Abrams as the musical guest. In her monologue she told the audience she was "nothing like Nikki," the character that had made her famous that year, and joked about the gym routine she had started to get into what she called "Marvel shape" for her next part. Deadline led its write-up with a line she aimed at Shane Gillis, whose monologue on the show's previous episode had drawn criticism.

Two weeks before, she had told Variety that being booked for the show still felt unreal. "I literally I feel like I snuck in," she said. The episode, along with the awards-season round of galas and festival panels she was doing that month, sent several hundred thousand readers to her Wikipedia page in the last week of October.

Tucson and Visalia

Navarrette was born in Tucson, Arizona, to an Australian mother and a Mexican father, according to both Remezcla and Variety. Her parents separated, and she moved to California, W Magazine reported. Remezcla reports that she spent most of her childhood in Visalia, a farming city in the San Joaquin Valley, before the family settled in Los Angeles. W Magazine gave her age as 25 in October 2026.

Denton's Death Date and the Sundance Directors Lab

Her first booked job was Denton's Death Date, a scripted series made for Snapchat, in which she played Veronica. She took part in the Sundance Directors Lab in 2019, Deadline reported, where the mentors included Robert Redford, Christine Lahti, and Ed Harris. She also had a single scene in Wander Darkly, a drama starring Sienna Miller and Diego Luna that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020.

Television came next. In May 2020 The CW cast her as a series regular in Superman & Lois, playing Sarah Cushing, the daughter of Kyle and Lana. In June 2020 she appeared as Estela de la Cruz in the fourth season of 13 Reasons Why. In February 2021 she signed with the talent agency CAA, which Deadline reported with a headline that still described her as "'13 Reasons Why' Actress."

Obsession, From Toronto to Focus Features

The role that changed her career came in a horror film made for less than a million dollars. Obsession was written and directed by Curry Barker, a YouTube creator making his first feature. Navarrette plays Nikki opposite Michael Johnston. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, where Focus Features bought it for $14 million, Variety reported.

She has described getting the part as a near miss. After her second audition she was sure it had gone badly, she told W Magazine, and when the offer came "my heart sank to my butt." Her summary of the year that followed: "Obsession came into my life like a bull in a china shop."

Focus released the film in North America on 15 May 2026. It opened to $17.2 million in 2,615 theaters, and its second weekend brought in $23.9 million, 39 percent more than the first. Audiences gave it an A- CinemaScore, and it held 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes in late May. By 16 June it had taken $265 million worldwide and become the highest-grossing release in Focus Features' history. W Magazine put the worldwide total at more than $500 million by mid-October.

An Oscar Campaign and a W Magazine Cover

Variety reported in June that Focus planned a full awards campaign for the film and noted that a nomination would make Navarrette the youngest Latina performer nominated in an acting category. In October she was on the cover of W Magazine, where Lynn Hirschberg described her as a leading contender for Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for best actress. That same month Variety named her one of its 10 Actors to Watch, and she appeared at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles and the Newport Beach Film Festival on consecutive nights.

"I never really imagined this," she told W. "It's a little overwhelming sometimes." She said her team is entirely Latino and burns sage before big events, which she put down to "Mexican intuition."

Rogue in Marvel's X-Men

At Disney's D23 fan convention in Anaheim on 14 August 2026, Marvel Studios announced the first cast of its new X-Men film, directed by Jake Schreier. Navarrette will play Rogue, alongside Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Adam Driver, and Maya Boyd as Storm. The film is dated for 5 May 2028, Deadline reported. She has started stunt training for it. "I'm the laziest person, and I am very excited to get up and move my body," she told Variety.

Navarrette has not disclosed her earnings from Obsession or her X-Men contract, and no reputable outlet has published an estimate of her net worth, so this article gives none.
