Young Leaders Unite for Change: One Young World Summit

Northern Ireland will host various exciting events this year, including the One Young World Summit, which brings together young leaders from 190 countries and 250 organisations to tackle the world’s biggest challenges and accelerate their social impact. The Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is also an annual event that showcases the quality, availability, and cost effectiveness of buying local food and farming products, and this year’s event will feature over 20 working farms. HIRANI is an alliance of universities, health organisations, and industry bodies supporting the growth of Northern Ireland’s life and health sciences sector. The group is supported by partners such as Invest NI, Public Health Agency, HSC Research & Development Office, the Department of Health, and the Department for the Economy. The One Young World Summit and Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend are two events supported by the alliance.

Upcoming Events in Northern Ireland

Open College Network (OCN NI) will host the fifth Learning Endeavour Awards on Monday, June 26, at the Titanic Suite in Titanic Belfast. The award ceremony recognises and celebrates the achievements of individuals and their training providers, who have transformed lives for the better through learning. The event will bring together learners from various education and training providers, including further education, private training, schools, and the community and voluntary sectors. It will also feature categories such as the Further Education Learner of the Year, Schools Learner of the Year, Third Sector Learner of the Year, and Inspiring Tutor/Teacher of the Year.

Telecoms and IT provider, b4b Group, along with Cyber Essentials experts, CyberSmart, are organising a free cyber-security webinar called Don’t Get Scammed, Get Secured. The webinar is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 20, from noon to 1 pm. The event will highlight the current and potential cyber threats that can impact businesses and discuss how Cyber Essentials certification can help eliminate these risks. The Health Innovation and Research Alliance NI (HIRANI) is hosting the Medical Innovation and Technology Summit (MITS) one-day conference in Belfast on Wednesday, April 19. The summit, in partnership with Innovate UK, AWS, Big Motive, Diaceutics, KPMG, Queen’s University Belfast, and Ulster University, will focus on two themes: digital ecosystems to integrate diagnostics and therapeutics, and community people-centred design to accelerate innovation and adoption of health technology. The conference will feature more than 40 speakers from various global and indigenous industries, academia, and health, along with 300 delegates who will share case-studies and engage in multi-disciplinary panel sessions to explore contemporary issues and hurdles to commercialisation. Some of the leading innovators from Northern Ireland, including Peter Keeling (Diaceutics), Damian Cranney (Big Motive), and Clare Guinness (Belfast Innovation District), will be attending along with world-renowned thought leaders such as the former global head of digital health and therapeutics at Merck, Caoimhe Valley Gilroy, and CEO of Closed-loop medicine and chairperson of HIRANI, Hakim Yadi OBE.

Exciting Events in Northern Ireland

HIRANI, an alliance of universities, health organisations, and other industry bodies supporting the growth of Northern Ireland’s life and health sciences sector, is hosting the One Young World Summit. The event, taking place from October 2-5 at SSE Arena in Belfast, brings together young leaders from 190 countries and 250 organisations to tackle the world’s biggest challenges and accelerate their social impact. Over 2,000 delegates will be mentored by influential leaders from the political, business, and humanitarian world. After the event, delegates will become ambassadors, and their organisations will be able to partner with One Young World to develop the skills to address global problems. The ambassadors can also attend future summits as Returning Ambassadors and receive lifetime membership of the One Young World Community. The One Young World community has grown to a network of over 13,500 ambassadors since its launch in 2009, whose projects have impacted 35.8 million people worldwide. Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is an annual event that showcases the quality, availability, and cost effectiveness of buying local food and farming products. More than 20 working farms across Northern Ireland will participate in the event from June 16-18, covering all farming sectors, including dairy, beef, lamb, arable, poultry, and vegetables. The Ulster Farmers’ Union, the leading organiser, anticipates that up to 20,000 visitors will attend the farms to participate in a variety of free activities and witness local food and farming at its best.

Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend, sponsored by Bank of Ireland, will feature more than 20 working farms across Northern Ireland. The event will take place from June 16-18, and will showcase all sectors within the farming industry, including dairy, beef, lamb, arable, poultry, and vegetables.
