Minnesota Timberwolves vs New York Knicks Mar 20, 2023 Game Summary.

On Monday, March 20th, 2023, the Minnesota Timberwolves faced the New York Knicks in a game that will go down in history due to Julius Randle’s spectacular performance. Randle’s 57 points helped the Knicks fight back against the Timberwolves’ sizzling start, but the latter team eventually emerged victorious with a final score of 140-134.

Minnesota’s Taurean Prince had a season-high 35 points and went 8 for 8 from 3-point range, while Mike Conley contributed 24 points and 11 assists. The Timberwolves made more than 70% of their shots in the first half and led by 17 before Randle carried the Knicks back with a franchise-record 26 points in the third quarter.

Despite Randle’s outstanding performance, the Knicks lost and had their three-game winning streak snapped. The All-Star forward made eight 3-pointers in surpassing his previous career high of 46 points, tying Richie Guerin behind the only two 60-point games in Knicks history: Carmelo Anthony’s 62 on Jan. 24, 2014, and Bernard King’s 60 on Christmas Day in 1984.

On the other hand, the Timberwolves snapped a three-game skid despite playing without Anthony Edwards for a second straight game because of a sprained right ankle. They made their first 10 shots, and Knicks fans cheered loudly when Jaden McDaniels missed Minnesota’s next attempt, nearly seven minutes into the game. The Wolves led 42-32 after one, shooting 16 for 22 (72.7%).

Randle’s final basket, a three-point play with 42 seconds remaining, cut the Timberwolves’ lead to 137-134, but he failed to make the defensive play on Minnesota’s next possession, allowing them to score again with only 10.1 seconds left. A technical foul was then called on Randle, and Conley made a free throw to seal the deal.

“It was a movie,” Prince said about the game, and he was right. The game was an extraordinary display of shooting and scoring, making it one of the greatest nights in Knicks history.
