Ajani Sheppard, Rutgers football’s quarterback, has been showcasing his skills in individual offseason workouts. Sheppard, a part of the 2023 recruiting class, has been deemed a late addition to the team, committing to Rutgers in late November after de-committing from Old Dominion. The former NFL quarterback Matt Simms posted a video over the weekend of Sheppard’s workout, praising his coachability and charisma, and calling him “the epitome of a Greg Schiano Rutgers man.”

Sheppard is the only scholarship quarterback in the last two recruiting classes for Rutgers football. At 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, Sheppard was ranked a three-star by 247Sports and the No. 9 prospect in New York in the 2023 class. He enrolled at Rutgers in January and signed with the Scarlet Knights in December.

In his senior year at Iona Prep, Sheppard threw for 2,393 yards with 21 touchdowns and six interceptions, according to MaxPreps. With his talent, work ethic, and attitude, Sheppard is poised to make a name for himself at Rutgers and contribute to the team’s success in the coming seasons.
