Goldberg: The Free Agent Wrestler

Goldberg, former Universal Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, has officially become a free agent after parting ways with WWE. His contract with the company expired at the end of 2022. Since then, he has been on the market without any renewal or extension deal being reached. Goldberg only wrestled a single match last year against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February 2022. He has competed in only six matches since the start of 2020, with half of them failing to even cross the three-minute threshold. Goldberg has won the Universal Championship twice in 2017 before dropping it each time at WrestleMania later that year. Rumors have been circulating that AEW has an interest in Goldberg since 2019. However, there was never any confirmation.

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg Now a Free Agent

According to a recent report, former Universal Champion and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has become a free agent after parting ways with WWE. Fightful Select confirmed that his contract with the company had expired at the end of 2022, making him a free agent since then.

Goldberg only competed in one match last year, which was a loss to Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber in February 2022. When he wrestled his last match for WWE, there were still ten months remaining on his contract.

Since the start of 2020, Goldberg has only wrestled in six matches, with half of them failing to even cross the three-minute threshold. In 2017, he won the Universal Championship twice before dropping it each time at WrestleMania later that year. He won the Universal Championship from “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia, dropped it to Braun Strowman a month later at WrestleMania 36, and then lost to both Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley at Royal Rumble and SummerSlam respectively in 2021. Goldberg did get one win back against “The Almighty” during their Falls Count Anywhere matchup at Crown Jewel two months after his SummerSlam defeat.

It’s worth noting that rumors were circulating about AEW having an interest in Goldberg dating as far back as 2019. However, there was never any confirmation.
