FC Dallas secured a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City with Jesús Ferreira’s late goal. The match was played on Saturday night at Frisco, Texas, with both teams taking three shots on goal.
Sporting KC initially took the lead with Dániel Sallói’s unassisted goal in the 11th minute. It was Sporting KC’s first goal of the season and Sallói’s seventh goal against Dallas, the most he has scored against any opponent.
However, Dallas responded well in the second half when Alan Velasco scored their first goal in the 55th minute after receiving a pass from Sebastian Lletget. Later, Jesús Ferreira found the net unassisted in the 84th minute to secure the win for Dallas.
This win comes after Dallas got off to a slow start for the fifth straight season with a record of 1-1-1. Dallas has allowed at least one goal in ten consecutive matches, which is the longest active streak in the league.
On the other hand, Sporting KC came into the match without scoring any goals despite taking a league-high 26 shots on goal. They had 11 shots in each of their scoreless draws in their last two matches. The 26 shots on goal through three matches tie a mark set by LAFC in 2020. LAFC scored seven goals with its 26 shots.

Sallói has scored five of Sporting KC’s last eight goals in the series, and the team had gone 274 minutes without scoring or surrendering a goal after playing to scoreless draws in its last two matches and yielding a goal to the Portland Timbers six minutes into the season opener.
