Discover the Shapers Anthology

Edward Willett, a Saskatchewan-based award-winning author, is launching a Kickstarter campaign on March 14, 2023, to fund the fourth annual anthology, Shapers of Worlds Volume IV. The anthology will feature works from some of the top writers in science fiction and fantasy genres. All of the authors featured in the anthology were guests on Willett’s Aurora Award-winning podcast, The Worldshapers. Backers of the Kickstarter campaign can expect to receive rewards such as e-books, signed paperback and hardcover books, Tuckerizations, commissioned artwork, one-on-one writing/publishing consultations, audiobooks, opportunities for online chats with authors, and short-story critiques.

Willett’s publishing company, Shadowpaw Press, will publish the book in both ebook and trade paperback formats this fall. If the campaign reaches $17,000, the anthology will be illustrated by Wendi Nordell, a Calgary-based artist. The Worldshapers podcast will continue, and assuming Shapers of Worlds Volume IV is successfully funded this year, there will be a campaign to fund the fifth volume in the series next year. In addition to his work on the anthology, Willett has previously produced Shapers of World Volume II, a collection of science fiction and fantasy stories from numerous bestselling and award-winning authors worldwide. He has also released Book 2 of The Worldshapers fantasy series, Master of the World, which is available in audiobook, e-book, and trade paperback formats.

All of the authors featured in the anthology were guests on Willett’s Aurora Award-winning podcast, The Worldshapers, where he interviews science fiction and fantasy authors about their creative processes. Backers of the Kickstarter campaign can expect rewards such as e-books, signed paperback and hardcover books, Tuckerizations, commissioned artwork, one-on-one writing/publishing consultations, audiobooks, opportunities for online chats with authors, and short-story critiques.

The campaign goal is $12,000 CDN, with most of the funds going towards paying the authors, and the rest going to reward fulfillment, primarily the editing, layout, and printing of the book. The book will be published in both ebook and trade paperback formats this fall by Willett’s publishing company, Shadowpaw Press. This year’s campaign has a special stretch goal: if the campaign reaches $17,000, $5,000 over the goal, the anthology will be illustrated by Wendi Nordell, a Calgary-based artist.

The Worldshapers podcast will continue, and assuming Shapers of Worlds Volume IV is successfully funded this year, there will be a campaign to fund the fifth volume in the series next year.
